Oman Air has endorsed the concept of outsourced ground handling by looking to form a partnership with a handling company.

This move will allow the carrier to focus on its main competencies, according to the company’s VP for Ground Handling & Cargo, Andrew Walsh. The initiative comes in the wake of Oman Air’s cargo department’s decision to enter into a joint venture with Singapore Airport Terminal Services, thereby creating a new company dedicated to cargo handling. At present, there are two contenders for the joint venture handling partner, which will be based in Muscat; it is understood that the enterprise will operate independently.
The carrier currently lists 50 destinations that are spread around 27 countries.
