Oman Air to adopt SmartKargo solution

Oman Air is continuing to enhance its cargo operation.

In February, the carrier signed up with SmartKargo, a provider of cloud-based IT software, for the management of the carrier’s sales and operations. The contract is scheduled to begin in June this year. According to the carrier, the cloud facility will reduce the infrastructural costs of the adopted solution. Further, the application is seen as a means of enhancing the existing joint venture that it has with Cargolux.

For its part, SmartKargo is equipped to handle electronic air waybills and will be able to manage warehouse and ramp operations. Part of the package includes the determining of flexible pricing and ratemaking as well as making provision for round-the-clock support via its three global call centres.

In terms of references, SmartKargo has already been taken up by Hawaiian Airlines and Norwegian, together with some eight other cargo carriers.
