Menzies to partner with Oman Air for ground handling at nine Oman airports

Menzies Aviation announced yesterday that it had taken a “major step” towards forming a joint venture with Oman Air.

The imminent partnership will see the two collaborate on the provision of ground handling services at all airports across Oman.

According to Menzies, the companies have now signed a Memorandum of Understanding confirming their intention to join forces. Following a period of due diligence and the establishment of regulatory requirements, the duo aims to launch the venture in the last quarter of the year.

The joint venture will provide ground handling at nine airports across Oman, including Oman Air’s hub operation in Muscat, handling over 50,000 aircraft turnarounds per annum and employing some 2,500 staff, Menzies has said .

Commenting on the partnership, Oman Air Chief Executive Officer, Paul Gregorowitsch, said that the company was pleased to have signed an MoU with Menzies Aviation, which will play a significant role in enhancing the company's service offering. “Our partnership will enable us to access new technology, improve training and achieve the highest standards with regard to ground handling operations," Gregorowitsch said.

Forsyth Black, President and Managing Director of Menzies Aviation, also commented, saying: “We’re very excited by the opportunity to work with Oman Air. There is a great tradition of co-operation between British and Omani partners; we hope to add this new joint venture to that list.”
