Jettainer takes on Oman Air’s ULD management

Cargo airline Oman Air Cargo has signed a five-year ULD outsourcing contract with Jettainer.

According to the agreement, Jettainer will be granted Oman Air Cargo’s ULD management as of October 5, 2017.

Oman Air Cargo will be utilising lightweight ULDs, made of carbon fibre and partly recycled composite materials, as part of its commitment to lowering its environmental footprint. This will contribute the reduction of CO2 emissions, improved payload and greater fuel efficiency.

Oman will be reducing its container fleet by about 20% to 1,200 units. Some 600 of Oman Air’s aluminum AKE containers are to be replaced by state-of-the-art environmentally friendly lightweight AKEs, with a further 200 lightweight containers to be added as part of future expansion plans.

“In line with our strategy to ’become the best’, and strengthen our status as a leading international cargo carrier, we are excited to work with an industry leader such as Jettainer in order to offer our clients the best possible service in line with leading industry standards,” said Mohammed Al Musafir, Senior Vice President Commercial Cargo, at the signing ceremony, held at the cargo handling facility at its Muscat International airport hub.

Jettainer’s Head of Marketing and P, Martin Kraemer, also commented. “With this co-operation, we continue to expand our presence in the strategically important Gulf region. This is an enormous dynamic market, which enables us to proceed with our course of growth in the long term.”

System rollout, training and operational transfers have been completed and all ULDs at the Muscat International airport are now maintained by Jettainer – and in the company’s global repair network.
