Ground Handling International’s 4th African Stakeholders’ Conference will take place at the Kigali Convention Centre, in Rwanda, over September 11-13 in 2018.

The move marks the first time the Conference has been held outside of South Africa.

GHI Conference Chairman, Max Gosney, said: “After close discussion with our delegates and exhibitors, we’re delighted to be taking the African Stakeholders' Conference somewhere new in 2018.

“Our ambition is to make this the destination the event for the African aviation community to network and exchange best practice. We believe Kigali offers a fantastic opportunity to extend the conference’s reach to delegates from across the continent.”

The newly built US$300m Kigali Convention Centre is twinned with a Radisson Blu Hotel and is located just 5 kilometres from Kigali city centre and airport.

The 4th African Stakeholders' Conference will debate the big market challenges facing the co-ordinated growth of the aviation sector across the African continent. Key topics for Kigali 2018 will include:

  • Airport-Collaborative Decision Making at the African airport
  • Liberalisation, deregulation and the path to a single African sky
  • Safety and Security Culture
  • The airline to ground handler dynamic: effective KPIs and establishing a fair contract price

Alongside a three-day keynote conference programme the event will offer GHI’s renowned One-to-One meetings service and a tabletop exhibition showcasing leading GSE and IT suppliers.

“The GHI African Stakeholders conference offers a great experience in term of conference content and good opportunities for updates on equipment,” said Gaoussou Konate, Ex-Deputy Regional Director, WACAF ICAO and 2017 delegate.
