E-booking for IAG Cargo

Green Scene
IAG Cargo claims that shipments can now be booked in less than three minutes thanks to the launch of its new e-booking system, which debuted recently in Spain.

Forwarders can now benefit from self-service registration, a user-friendly interface and can complete multiple bookings at one time, which can subsequently be managed online, even if made originally by phone. Available for general freight as well as premium products, enhanced features such as template bookings and auto-rating are responsible for the speedy nature of the bookings and additional features will be added over the next year.

IAG has said that this marks the beginning of the carrier's global commitment to IATA's e-freight initiative, to eliminate mounds of paperwork in the airfreight business.

Angel Cabeza Rivas, head of IT at IAG Cargo, commented: "The air cargo industry is going through a period of rapid digitisation driven by the need to make operations more efficient and customer friendly.
"The enhanced, feature-rich e-booking service we have launched in Spain means we are at the forefront of this change. Importantly, the service will not only make us more effective as a business but will make it easier than ever for customers to do business with us."

IAG reported that 15% of all bookings in Spain were made through the new system in the first few weeks following the launch.
