Sale of Swissport confirmed

Handling Talk
Swissport is changing hands again.

The European Commission has cleared the acquisition of the Swissport group of companies by China's HNA Group; HNA, which owns China's Hainan Airlines, will pay US$2.8bn to the current owner, PAI. The Commission, the EU's executive which rules on anti-trust issues, has stated that the proposed acquisition would not raise competition concerns because the companies' activities do not overlap.

It added that the merged entity would also not be able to block competing suppliers of ground handling or cargo handling services because the HNA Group experiences a limited demand for such services.
