Swissport Ghana is a joint venture company established back in 2014, between Swissport International and Ghana Airport Cargo Centre, GACC, which is itself a joint venture between Air Ghana, Logistics Company, based in Accra, Ghana, and the Ghana Airports Company. A brand new, purpose-built cargo warehouse is currently under construction and scheduled to be in use by the end of 2015, when Swissport Ghana will begin cargo warehousing and ramp handling at the establishment. The warehouse has prime position next to the airside of Kotoka International airport in Accra and will offer 10,000 square metres of warehousing space, designed to handle all manner of cargo including perishables, valuables and dangerous goods.
Nils P Knudsen, Head of Global Cargo Services at Swissport International, commented: "We are proud to announce the opening of Swissport Ghana. We have a strong and reliable local partner, and together we will help develop the local infrastructure. Ghana is a very promising market and with our state-of-the-art new facility we will be ideally set up to offer local, regional and international customers premium cargo services."
Chairman and CEO of Air Ghana, Marwan Traboulsi, reiterated this optimistic attitude, saying: "This is a very exciting and perfect partnership and we are very much looking forward to working with Swissport International and making Accra the best cargo hub in Africa."
