Aviator flies into the UK

Handling Talk
Aviator has agreed to purchase from Swissport International the former Servisair ground handling operations at London Gatwick and Newcastle airports in the UK, as well as that of Helsinki-Vantaa airport in Finland.

Aviator has also agreed to acquire the Swissport operations at Birmingham airport in the UK. The divestment of the respective operations comes as a result of the merger remedies the EU Commission imposed on Swissport in order to obtain merger clearance for Swissport´s acquisition of Servisair.

Currently being the largest independent aviation ground handling provider in the Nordic region, Aviator now enters the UK market as part of its strategic development outside of Scandinavia.

Aviator's CEO, Paul Synnott, remarked: "We are delighted with this acquisition. Expanding into London Gatwick, Newcastle and Birmingham with a strong management team and dedicated personnel gives us a perfect platform for expansion into new geographical markets."

Aviator is a full-range provider of ground handling services, currently operating at 21 airports in the Nordic region. At London Gatwick, Newcastle, Birmingham and Helsinki, Aviator will be responsible for the ground handling for a number of significant national and international airlines, and plans to follow its clear strategy to broaden its portfolio of aviation-related services.

With this acquisition, Aviator adds 600 employees in the UK and 300 in Finland to its present 2,900 personnel. The integration of the UK and Finnish operations with the Aviator Group will begin as soon as the agreement has been approved by the EU Commission.
