Swissport reports a good year for 2014

Handling Talk
Swissport International saw its overall revenues increase by 38% last year, with total profits for 2015 reaching US$2.94bn.

This boost in return is due partly to the handler's 2013 acquisition of Servisair; however, even excluding this acquisition, Swissport still kept ahead of the market by 6% on a like-for-like basis. Swissport's cargo business also had a successful year, seeing an increase of 5.4% in airfreight tonnage, year over year. In addition, aircraft turnaround frequencies were up by 5.8%, year on year. Business was also looking good for Servisair, with the number of turnarounds in 2014 totalling 2.1m and tonnages carried reaching 4m. As well as the Servisair acquisition, expansion also came in the form of new contract wins, including a multi-year, pan-European ground handling contract with Germanwings and a multi-year agreement with Saudia Airlines Cargo for Brussels and Amsterdam. Global strategic partnerships with Cargolux and Transaero were also signed, as were contracts with both United Airlines at Heathrow and Washington Dulles. All in all, Swissport's business is certainly booming.
