INFORM at the world's largest airport

Tech Talk
Ground handler dnata has been an INFORM client since 1996, when it started to use GS Planning, GS Rostering and GS RealTime for the management of both its GSE and its staff.

dnata was also INFORM's first client in the Middle East, which is a strong business region for INFORM and has, to date, grown well beyond Dubai.

With the tremendous growth of air traffic through Dubai International airport, dnata has grown its operations, thanks to support from the German IT specialist. In due course GS Mobility was added to the suite to support an agile deployment of resources over smart phones and tablet PCs. In subsequent years Emirates, Emirates Engineering, security services and dnata's cargo operations also started to make use of these systems.

Today the suite manages around 17000 staff members, 2500 communication units and around 1500 GSE at Dubai International airport.

Dubai is still growing as a hub and consequently the new airport, Al Maktoum International at Dubai World Central, was built and is now operational. In time, it is expected to become the world's largest airport. INFORM is now helping dnata to boost its operation at this station by rolling out the Resource Management suite in as short a period as four months. The project has been running since before Christmas 2013, with focused taskforces from dnata and INFORM partly on site in Dubai and partly in Aachen.

"We are proud of the long co-operation between our teams and for the capability of INFORM's GroundStar suite to meet dnata's challenge of fast growth at highest quality standards with scalable and reliable solutions," commented Thomas Schmidt, Director of INFORM's Aviation Division.

"High quality systems support is crucial to keep up with increasing air traffic and secure high-quality service. INFORM is a reliable and experienced partner, proving flexible at finding solutions for a very challenging operation," added Jaffar Dawood, dnata's Vice President, Business Support, Airport Operations.
