Almaty signs up Amadeus for enhanced passenger processing systems

Tech Talk
Almaty airport has already implemented Amadeus' Airport Common Use Service (or ACUS) solution and is soon to implement Amadeus Airport Baggage Reconciliation Solution.

This addition will see it reaping the combined benefits of advanced airport technology.

ACUS is something of a revolution in check-in technology, since it permits the hosting of the solution in Amadeus’ data centre rather than in a local server. This technology removes the burden and high costs associated with the deployment of many airline DCSs in the airport, as well as the maintenance of individual network connections.

ACUS will enable check-in agents to access the DCSs of the airlines operating in the airport through a thin client workstation. Additionally, with ACUS, Almaty Airport could choose to have the possibility of checking passengers in from a mobile device with wi-fi, 3G or 4G, anytime and anywhere in the airport premises, as well as off-site. This means passengers could in the future check in and remotely drop their bags in the airport departures car parking area, at a cruise terminal or at a convention centre or hotel lobby, which brings greater flexibility for both the traveller and for the airport.

The Amadeus BRS is designed to match each passenger with their baggage to ensure efficient management of luggage at the airport. The solution ensures a reduction in misplaced baggage, bringing cost benefits to airlines and a better service to passengers. Amadeus BRS also enables a faster turnaround of aircraft, thus enhancing flight punctuality.
