WFS appoints Craig Smyth as new CEO

Worldwide Flight Services yesterday announced the appointment Craig Smyth, former CEO of Menzies Aviation, as the company’s new Chief Executive, beginning August 29, 2016.

Smyth, who will be based at WFS's Charles de Gaulle offices in Roissy, has expressed enthusiasm about joining such a geographically diverse company and the opportunity to grow the business further. "I'm thrilled about the opportunity to join WFS, an ambitious and fast growing company with a sterling reputation for customer service," he said. "I look forward to engaging right away and working with our customers, employees and partners to help move the business forward and maximise its potential."

Bastian Lueken, head of the European investment team at Platinum Equity, which acquired WFS last year, commented: "Craig has the right combination of leadership skills and industry expertise to build on WFS' success and deliver on our long-term goals for the company.
"He is one of the most experienced and respected executives in the aviation services industry and has proven himself over a distinguished 20-year career."

Smyth joins WFS after serving over 20 years at Menzies Aviation, where he started in 1993. He most recently occupied the rôle of CEO of Menzies, a position he held since 2004, and also served as the company's Chief Financial Officer during his time at the company.
