United's Polaris Lounge schedule

United is readying its new Polaris Lounge at San Francisco International airport, which should be open for business on April 30.

These lounges are aimed at the airline’s international business class. The San Francisco example will be able to seat 440 passengers on two levels, and it will cover more than 28,000 square feet. In all, there are 19 different types of seating, almost 500 power outlets and an equivalent number of USB ports.

The Dining Room is a principal feature of the facility, and under the guidance of a Californian chef, on offer will be a wide array of indigenous and foreign fare to cater for all palates. Accompanying this is a bistro-like buffet that includes a ramen noodle bar in the afternoon, with a facility for additional specialist dishes.

Continuing the roll-out, a Polaris lounge at Newark Liberty International is expected to open by early June, with a lounge at George Bush Intercontinental in Houston following this summer. Finally, the Polaris lounge at Los Angeles International should be in operation by the fourth quarter of 2018.
