The award was given to Swissport during the annual Air Cargo Africa event, which was held in February in Johannesburg.

Swissport has a long and successful history in Africa after entering the ground handling market there in 1998. Since then, its African network has grown to 49 airports in nine countries with a workforce of currently more than 8,000 staff members. In the past, Swissport has repeatedly been awarded for its expertise in ground handling and cargo services, having gained the plaudit African Cargo Handler of the Year three times in all.
