SAFEAIR chooses TCR to provide GSE rental services at Kota Kinabalu – and goes green

SAFEAIR Technical has partnered with TCR and made the switch to full service GSE rental at Kota Kinabalu International airport – also turning its fleet 90% electric.

The handler has opted to delegate the task of GSE management and maintenance to the global leader in GSE services, TCR. Leveraging TCR’s experience in electric GSE, SAFEAIR has also decided to introduce 90% battery-powered GSE into its operation: a first for an operation of this scale in Malaysia.

SAFEAIR required quick delivery of the GSE to accommodate the urgent start date of the new contract, and TCR was able to deliver, utilising its vast supply of more than 600 available motorised assets globally. Within four weeks of finalising the agreement, TCR had 80% of the fleet transferred to Kota Kinabalu airport, serviced, freshly painted and ready for action, with many units under two years old and fitted with all of the TCR safety features and upgrades.

Once the GSE enters daily operation with SAFEAIR, TCR will provide constant support, day and night, via airside technical teams, and will also provide regular servicing, washing and painting to ensure the fleet remains of a high standard, utilising a specialised airside GSE facility inside Kota Kinabalu airport.
