Pop-up check in for Virgin Australia

Tech Talk Airlines
Virgin Australia has announced that it is to launch a pop-up check-in and baggage drop service at major Australian airports, underlining the growing interest in remote check-in facilities.

This service is designed to make it easier for travellers and should relieve airport congestion. Guests will benefit from the convenience of seat allocation and baggage check-in away from the airport; viable locations in this respect include cruise ports, conference venues and hotels. The facility will mean that luggage remains secure and that it will be transported straight to the airport. There should also be a reduction in waiting times at the airport, which will permit travellers to head straight to their departure gate.

This facility was created by Off Airport Check-In Solutions and it deploys Amadeus’ Airport Common Use Service cloud technology to work remotely with Virgin Australia’s system; this provides travellers with a check-in and baggage service that can be accessed from anywhere, in line with customer demand.

Travellers disembarking from Sydney’s Overseas Passenger Terminal and White Bay Cruise Terminal will be the first to use the new check-in and baggage drop service, with Virgin Australia staff also available to assist guests.
