NAS Dar Airco signs deal with NIT for training

National Air Services’ (NAS) Tanzanian company, NAS Dar Airco has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the National Institute of Transport for training and internships.

The higher training institute is based in Dar Es Salaam and is the only centre in sub-Saharan Africa outside of South Africa to offer training in transport and related areas.

NAS Dar Airco is the only ground handler to sign the MoU, and will offer on-the-job training to young Tanzanians.

Training includes positions for aircraft maintenance engineers and technicians, cabin crew, aircraft operations officers, flight operations officers, automobile engineers, and airport drivers’ jobs.

NAS and NIT are working together to define a roadmap for further implementation of the training plans.

Professor Costa Ricky Mahalu, NAS Africa Board Member says: “Since we kicked off operations here, we have attempted to do our part in developing the Tanzanian aviation sector and creating job opportunities for the local population. The signing of this MoU is the first of its kind towards cooperation between a government entity and private sector for training and internship programmes in the country.”

Professor Zacharia Mganilwa, Rector of NIT says: “The partnership will improve and strengthen the functioning of NIT’s School of Aviation and Technology to produce more and quality professionals who serves the market. We have also prepared a curriculum for airport vehicles and operations to help train airport vehicle drivers. This programme will be commencing soon.”
