More electric GSE at Stuttgart airport

As one of the leading airport operators in terms of electric GSE, Stuttgart airport continues to raise the bar.

By the end of 2017, both passenger and baggage transport on the ramp will be completely run by near silent and zero-emission drives. In all, 25 electric vehicles are already in use. During the next three years the electric fleet will be expanded by 40 ground handling vehicles to include passenger buses, baggage and cargo tugs, beltloaders and pushback vehicles.

Within the scale-up! project at Stuttgart airport, the ground handling service provider Losch Airport Service and Öko-Institute e.V. are co-operating in order to pursue this goal together. Scale-up! explores how sourcing apron vehicles influences the environment and profitability, considering the whole life-cycle from production to energy supply and battery disposal.
