Menzies Aviation joins Mission Possible Partnership

Menzies Aviation has joined the Mission Possible Partnership (MPP), an alliance focused on decarbonising high emitting industries.

Responsible for about 3% of global CO2 emissions, aviation’s share increased substantially between 2010 and 2019, and it will increase significantly by 2050 is no action is taken.

In collaboration with the Clean Skies for Tomorrow coalition, the MPP has published an Aviation Transition Strategy setting out a global strategy to achieve net-zero aviation by 2050.

The report, Making Net-Zero Aviation possible: An industry-backed, 1.5°C aligned Transition Strategy, provides actionable steps including how aircraft can increase fuel efficiency, rolling out Sustainable Aviation Fuel, and market entry for hydrogen, battery-electric, and hybrid-powered aircraft.

Menzies is the first aviation service provider to sign the global strategy, reflecting its commitment to its All In sustainability strategy.

Katy Reid, Head of Sustainability and Corporate Responsibility at Menzies Aviation, said, “Our All In Strategy is integral to making our business more sustainable and has set us on course to meet our social and climate responsibilities. This latest report from the Mission Possible Partnership highlights the steps we must take to continue to drive meaningful change, which we will be incorporating into our existing strategies.”
