Liège airport invests in new warehouse complex

Cargo Matters
Liège airport is upping the ante, following strong growth in its cargo handling performance.

Cargo activity has mushroomed over the last year: Air China Cargo, for example, has been running a weekly flight between Shanghai and Liège since the summer, and it is set to build on this in 2018. Following on from that, in October Air Bridge Cargo plumped for Liège airport as its principal hub.

Because of this heightened activity, Liège has looked at further investment. Around 20,000 square metres of additional warehousing and equipment are planned, which represents an increase of some 30% in terms of cargo handling capacity. Over 300 jobs will be created along the way. If all goes according to plan, the first warehouse (totalling 6,000 square metres) should be operational in January 2018, with others following suit at the end of that month.
