Swissport awarded CEIV Pharma in Liège and Toronto

Swissport has strengthened its pharma handling network with IATA CEIV Pharma certificates in Liège and Toronto.

The pharma centres at Liège Airport in Belgium and Toronto Pearson International Airport in Canada are the 16th and 17th warehouses to be certified.

Liège is the second CEIV certified facility in Belgium after Brussels and Swissport was the first CEIV Pharma-certified handler in Canada when its facility at Montreal-Trudeau International Airport was recognised in 2018.

The Swissport Pharma Center in Liège is part of a larger cargo facility covering 6,000 square metres with 2 temperature-controlled storage units operating at temperature ranges of 2-8C and 15-25C.

Each cool room has an area of 180 square metres and can hold up to 15 unit load devices.

In Toronto, the Swissport Pharma Center is part of a 4,825 square-metre cargo facility with 2 cool rooms operating at ranges of 2-8C and 15-25C.

Dirk Goovaerts, CEO of Continental Europe, Middle East and Africa, and Global Cargo Chair at Swissport, says, “This latest CEIV certification in Liège, where Swissport operates a state-of-the-art pharma centre with end-to-end refrigeration solutions, is testament to our infrastructure investment and the operational expertise of our team. Our capabilities in Liège - one of the leading hubs for pharmaceutical shipments in Europe - perfectly complement our established offering in Brussels, Belgium, and other European pharma centres such as Frankfurt, Germany, and Basel, Switzerland.”

Charles Roberge, CEO of Swissport Canada, adds, “The CEIV Pharma certification of our cargo operation at Toronto Airport is a recognition of the efforts and investments that went towards upgrading our infrastructure, refining our process and upskilling our teams. It solidifies Swissport’s leader role in pharma handling in Canada.”
