This policy introduces a requirement to gradually increase the percentage of all-electric light vehicle purchases to 100% of all light vehicle acquisitions by 2035. The plan is expected to contribute to improved air quality by further reducing greenhouse gas emissions from operations at Los Angeles International and Van Nuys general aviation airports while aligning with sustainability goals set forth in LAWA’s Alternative Fuels Programme and the City of Los Angeles’ Sustainable City pLAn.
“Today’s approval of the Electric Vehicle Purchasing Policy reflects LAWA’s continued commitment to green operations throughout our airports’ fleets and reaffirms Los Angeles’ status as a municipal leader in sustainable and green transportation,” said LAWA Chief Executive Officer Deborah Flint.“Combined with other ongoing sustainability measures, that touch everything from project construction to waste disposal, we’re creating airport experiences that are gold-standard and sustainable.”
