The Leaders Academy on 9 October at Heathrow will examine the tools and techniques that can help senior teams better attract, motivate and retain frontline employees.
The move comes after GHI research uncovered 55% of European station suffering from skills shortages and attrition reaching near 100% in some locations.
The Leaders Academy will feature case-study led presentations from industry operators rich in practical advice on how to tackle issues including employee engagement, capturing workforce innovation and breaking down workforce:management distrust.
Max Gosney, GHI Conference Chairman said: “With widespread skills shortages and high workforce turnover– the need for inspirational leaders to help us get the best out of the people in our sector has never been greater.
“That’s why GHI is launching the Leaders Academy: to help you learn the secrets of achieving employee engagement and the bottom line benefits it can bring your stations.”
Engaged employees are defined as showing high levels of motivation, pride in their work and a willingness to offer up discretionary effort. Research from Gallup reports businesses with higher engagement scores averaging 18% more productivity, 12% higher profits and superior safety records than those with lower scores, according to studies.
Alongside a focus on employee engagement – the Leaders Academy will also debate the poor public profile of ground handling and industry-wide efforts to market the sector as a viable career choice for young people.
Simon Witts, Founder and Executive Chairman at the Aviation Skills Partnership commented: “We’re proud to be part of this great initiative aimed at solving the skills issues in the ground handling industry.”
