According to Pakistan’s online news engine, the Daily Times, the new development will become the first and only custom-built warehouse in Pakistan. Built on a 75,000 square foot area, the facility will feature modern, high-tech handling system, to facilitate throughput of airline customer’s cargo.
"We have invested a significant amount in the development of this facility which will lead to expanding our storage capacity from 36,000 to 72,000 square feet," said Syed Haris Raza, Vice President Pakistan for Gerry's dnata. "We have also designed dedicated centres for cold storage and valuable item storage within the warehouse." Raza added that the company hopes that this will help it achieve its objective of developing a safe, efficient delivery service, as well as contribute to consistent customer satisfaction and growth. "In recent years, we have become more transformational with our approach in terms of responding to industrial changes and customer demands," he went on to say.
Now spanning seven airports across Pakistan, including Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, and Peshawar, the growth of the Gerry’s dnata operation has made it the largest ground handler in Pakistan. Looking to the future for further possibilities of growth, Raza was optimistic about the potential of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, which has already effected an increase on passenger traffic into Pakistan. “This is positive news for the economy in general and of course, the aviation industry in particular,” he asserted, explaining that the opportunity for diverse investments, tourism, the enhanced security and safety that the CPEC will bring will help to reduce the challenges that the aviation industry is facing at present.
