The contract in Frankfurt coincides with FCS expanding its dedicated e-commerce handling facility by 300% to 2,000 square metres.
FCS will handle imports for EDT, providing services in its first-line warehouse with direct ramp access.
The service provides quick breakdown, sorting and delivery to the last mile transportation provider under agreed processing times.
EDT e-commerce shipments, which are mostly destined for the German consumer market, arrive on scheduled carriers including Chinese clients of FCS.
The contract with FCS builds on parent company Worldwide Flight Services’ cooperation with EDT, which includes e-commerce handling at Paris Charles de Gaulle and Liege airports.
Claus Wagner, Managing Director of FCS said: “With our investment to expand e-commerce handling capacity in Frankfurt, FCS is sending a clear signal to leading companies like EDT that we are supporting their special service requirements, and we are making a strong commitment to these partnerships.”
He added: “E-commerce traffic into Germany is growing strongly and this cooperation with EDT as one of our first dedicated e-commerce customers will further develop Frankfurt Airport’s reputation as a premier hub for e-commerce in Europe, supported by the local Customs authority.”
