Fitsum Abady, MD Ethiopian Cargo & Logistics Services, acknowledged the importance of offering a suitable solution for sensitive cargo in such a fast-growing and competitive market. “We are very glad to offer our customers a highly reliable packaging solution to transport temperature-sensitive shipments with DoKaSch’s Opticooler,” he said.
The recent inauguration of the largest state-of-the-art cargo terminal at Addis Ababa the airport, the main hub of Ethiopian Airlines, will also enhance the handling of temperature-sensitive cargo shipments such as pharmaceuticals. The cargo terminal is fitted with latest technology and compartmentalised temperature-controlled storage facilities.
As of February, Ethiopian Cargo & Logistics Services has been offering DoKaSch’s active container, the Opticooler, to fly just such temperature-sensitive goods through the hub of the airline to and from Africa.
The Opticooler is equipped with battery powered cooling compressors and heaters as well as a
self-regulating temperature control. This ensures that the temperature of sensitive goods, in particular medicines and vaccines, stay well within range at all points in the storage
area.
