dnata opens fourth largest Australian cargo facility at Adelaide airport

dnata has opened a new airside cargo facility at Adelaide airport, its fourth largest facility in the country.

The new 1,500 square metre facility, replacing dnata’s existing 400 square metre off-airport cold store, has the capacity to handle up to 80 tonnes of cargo per day and will provide convenient and flexible storage options for both export and import cargo products.

It is hoped that the new cargo facility will facilitate growth for new and existing airline customers, and meet increasing demand for the South Australian cargo market. Thanks to its proximity to the passenger terminal and new freighter apron at the airport, the new centre has the ability to provide faster cargo handling, as well as boasting full OTS and TSA accreditation for security screening, along with refrigerated and ambient temperature product options.

Daniela Marsilli, CEO, dnata Australia, commented on the significant development. “Our customers have been calling for an airside facility and we are pleased to be able to meet this need. It has been a significant investment for us and we are committed to growing our business in Adelaide by opening this tailor made, expansive airside facility.”

According to the handler, the development has already borne fruit, and business in Adelaide is beginning to grow, with customers currently including Qatar Airways, China Southern Airlines and Virgin Australia.
