DHL invests in Myanmar

Cargo Matters
DHL has launched a large Express facility in Myanmar to support the country's strong import and domestic demand.

DHL Express is supporting the nation's fast-growing economy, which is forecast to rise by 8.5% in 2016. Located in Yangon and occupying over 50,000 square feet of land, and with a built-up area of 32,500 square feet, the facility's expansive handling capacity is ready to cater to the growing import and domestic demand.

"DHL launched this facility to cater to Myanmar's increasing logistics needs, driven by growth sectors such as the infrastructure, oil and gas and the garment industries. It is designed to handle massive shipment volumes expected over the next decade - to the year 2025 and beyond," commented Mark Ong, Country Manager for Myanmar, DHL Express. The new service centre is located close to the airport, which enables the enterprise to ensure faster deliveries for more customers, connecting them to DHL's global network of over 220 countries and territories worldwide.

The facility contains key features that will accelerate and enhance service quality for customers. Its conveyor belt system, spanning more than 280 feet and running throughout the centre, allows goods to be directly loaded into courier vans and rapidly distributed. High security and full visibility of the shipping process is another critical component in the installation.
