Cargogate venture takes off at Munich Airport

The Cargogate venture between CHI Cargo Group and Munich Airport has resulted in improved profitability and efficiency since its launch on 1 January 2025.

CHI is the majority shareholder with a 74.9% stake in Cargogate with Munich Airport retaining a 25.1% share, combining the airport’s global connectivity with the flexibility of a family-owned logistics company.

Since the merger, Cargogate has increased efficiency and profitability, driven by shared resource utilisation and process optimisation.

Kai Domscheit, CEO of CHI Cargo Group said: “This partnership reflects a shared vision to strengthen Munich Airport’s cargo offering. For CHI, it’s a key step in expanding our airline handling capabilities in Germany and enhancing our service portfolio in Munich — a commitment to the future of air cargo.”

The company has also achieved Platinum status by one of its major airline customers for performance in April.

It has also been awarded early contract extensions by key customers and welcomed SCAT Airlines as a new customer.

Dominik Misskampf, Managing Director of Cargogate said: “We’re proud that we have improved operational and economic performance in a short period of time. The development of Cargogate is further proof for our strong management approach in new terrains and strengthens us for new ventures.”

Cargogate has extended its product portfolio to include value-added services such as trucking, customs and forwarding solutions.

To take unification to the next level, Cargogate has launched a new logo to reflect its affiliation with CHI Cargo Group while preserving its commitment to Munich Airport.

Jost Lammers, CEO of Munich Airport said: “By joining forces with CHI Cargo Group, we’re ensuring Munich remains a forward-looking logistics gateway — efficient, reliable, and ready for the future of cargo.”
