Air France's initiatives at CDG

Air France's ground handling teams have been busy at Charles de Gaulle, despite the pandemic.

According to Air France's ground handling spokesperson, the incidence of private jet handling, together with that of charter flights, has been the company's main business: this has escalated, as regular passenger flight activity has only only shown a slow growth in recent months.

The company has also been involved in handling passenger aircraft that have been transformed into cargo carrying mules, the so-called phreighters. On the contract front, Air Vistara has been signed up for full handling: the Indian airline will begin its operation at the start of October at Charles de Gaulle.

In terms of technology, the company has introduced the i-coupon: this entails a barcode on the boarding ticket which has the effect of replacing the paper tickets for subsidence given out to passengers in the event of delayed or cancelled flights. Also on this theme, a new product has been launched, that of the Baggage Delivery Warning, which is an app working off GPS that helps to trace a passenger's bag should it go missing en route.
