
Overall, it has been a reasonable seven months for the Russian flag carrier, which has seen revenues reach RUB223m, a 26.8% improvement, while its EBITDAR almost doubled to achieve RUB58,397m. A strong operational performance underpinned these figures: passenger totals were up by just over 10% and the airline’s CEO Shamil Kurmashov, pointed to ongoing tight controls over operating costs. Helpfully, fuel costs were contained, which has also had a positive impact on the performance figures.
In terms of cargo, though, things have been more erratic, with international freight down by 1.7%, year-on-year, to 45,863 tonnes for the review period. On the plus side, though, domestic cargo did post a useful increase of 29%, reaching a total of 54,856 tonnes.
