The new bridges will be apron drive models with glass-sided tunnels, which will serve to protect passengers from exposure to inclement weather, and will also allow for more efficient and rapid turnarounds at Pier 1 of Terminal 2. The new GSE will be installed by in late 2018 and early 2019 as part of the first phase of the £1bn Manchester Airport Transformation Programme, MAN-TP.
MAN-TP will see passengers and airlines given access to state-of-the-art facilities and enable the airport to handle 45m passengers a year: an increase of almost 20m compared to today. The new terminal building is expected to be operational by 2020.

This deal comes two decades after ADELTE first provided boarding bridges to the airport.
