WFS wins three-year contract for Pakistan International Airlines in the UK

Worldwide Flight Services has won the contract to provide cargo handling and trucking services for Pakistan International Airlines in the UK for a three-year term.

WFS will handle export and import cargo for PIA’s wide-bodied flights at London Heathrow, Birmingham and Manchester, connecting customers in the UK with Islamabad, Karachi and Lahore.

At Heathrow, freight carried on PIA’s ten weekly flights will be managed at WFS’ Building 551 in the airport’s World Cargocentre. The handler will also manage cargo in terminals located at Birmingham and Manchester airports, where PIA operates four and ten flights a week, respectively.

Cliff McKrell, Operations Director, UK & Ireland at WFS, said of the win: “This is another important contract win for WFS. PIA has recognised the value of having a single cargo handler at all three of its online airports in the UK, which we are also able to connect using our UK coastwise trucking network.” He added that, combined with WFS’ close working relationship with the PIA’s GSA partner in the UK, the collaboration increases the potential to generate cargo for the airline’s flights from across the country.
