CarrierClaim can be integrated with TranSolutions' TMS, accounting software, or other internal systems. Joe Celestina, Director of Business Development for TranSolutions, commented on the development.
"This is something that carriers have been asking us to develop for a long time. We've talked to dozens of carriers over the years. Carriers doing a couple billion dollars in sales are still managing their claims in an Excel spreadsheet, because that's been the only option." However, spreadsheets can give rise to innumerable problems, all of which can be overcome using a claims management system like CarrierClaim. Using the application, one can store documentation, photos, and follow up notes with the claim record, all in one location, rather than being scattered across multiple paper or digital folders. An internal e-mail system is also included in the application, which allows e-mail records to be stored within the claim file, eliminating the need to track down e-mail records. Additionally, CarrierClaim is a cloud-based database, which enables access from anywhere, and allows multiple users to work on a file simultaneously – something that is impossible with a spreadsheet.
CarrierClaim comes equipped with robust reporting and analytics tools to enable claims managers to uncover the root causes of loss and damage, such as insufficient packaging or improper handling methods by a particular driver or warehouse location. The system includes over 80 automatically generated reports and custom reports can be generated with 150 metrics, such as region, claimant or claim reasons. There is also the option to categorise claims as Awaiting Mitigation or Waiting for Salvage and a feature that will automatically notify designated user groups in the case of specific claim reasons, for example alerting environmental professionals in the case of a hazardous spill.
