Toll Express, part of Australian logistics firm Toll Group, recently completed a US$20m renovation of its depot at Perth airport.
The renovation, part of an US$80m initiative to improve its investments in Western Australia, is expected to improve operational efficiency as well as the working conditions for employees.
According to Toll Express General Manager Larry O'Regan, a steel overhead walkway was installed to keep pedestrians at a safe distance from airport equipment and to create a safer work environment. The 172 metre construction covers the width of a breezeway which connects to the main office and training room. This breezeway has doubled in length to 287 metres to allow up to 20 vehicles to deliver freight simultaneously, minimising customers' and suppliers' wait times.
