Ender Diagnostics will offer a PCR test innovation at the newly opened pre-departure testing facility operated by Checkport. Here, the sample is not taken by nasal swab as with conventional tests, but on a saliva basis, which is much more convenient for those being tested. The tests are sold as self-test kits on site and can be performed in test boxes independently, with no assistance required by medical personnel. Test boxes are cleaned after each traveller depart and samples will be transported to the Swiss Analysis laboratory four times a day by a dedicated courier service.
The price for the new COVID-19 test is approximately €180 and the result is available within five hours. Test samples delivered after 5 pm will be processed early the next morning. Customers are informed of their test result by a password-protected e-mail. Currently, the testing facility is operating every day between 1800 and 2000 hrs and can be visited without prior appointment.
