Swissport starts forwarder handling in Germany

Cargo UK & Europe
Swissport has started freight forwarder handling in Germany following the expansion of its partnership with JAS Worldwide at Frankfurt Airport.

In January this year, Swissport became JAS’s sole cargo handling agent at Frankfurt Airport and the new services complement existing forwarder and handling services.

The parties worked together for a smooth transition.

Swissport started forwarder handling services in Austria, firstly in Vienna in 2010 followed by Graz in 2016.

It says demand has been consistently strong and the market response overwhelmingly positive, and the new offering will be integrated into Swissport’s standard service portfolio globally.

Andreas Behnke, Managing Director ad interim of Swissport Cargo Services Germany and Austria, said: “By offering forwarder handling we are contributing to our customers’ value creation and can also eliminate third-party involvement, which translates directly into time and cost savings for our customers. Combined with our digitalised processes and tools, the new offer allows for streamlined logistics processes and efficient freight handling.”

Matthias Frey, Vice President Global Airfreight Operations at JAS Worldwide, added: “We are pleased to solidify another partnership with Swissport through this new ground services agreement. Given their exceptional service record, particularly in JAS's Pharma sector, we are confident in Swissport's ability to deliver the same level of excellence at Frankfurt Airport.”
