The design of the SkateLoader is based on fully automatic, one-shot-loading and is capable of reducing the loading time of a complete trailer by 70%. The system has been developed for one-way loading of outbound goods; for example, from a production facility or from a distribution centre to multiple end-users. The typical ROI for the SkateLoader is put at between 12 to 24 months, depending on specific customer situations and driving distances.
A full trailer can be automatically loaded within a very brief total time cycle - and without the need for a forklift truck. Scanning and alignment takes two minutes, the one-shot-loading takes three minutes and retracting the system within two minutes brings the total loading cycle to just over seven minutes. In combination with buffer stations, three to five trailer loads per dock per hour can be easily achieved.
The SkateLoader system is equipped with a scanning technology that accurately detects the trailer's position at the dock. An automatic, triple axis motorised alignment system precisely angles the SkateLoader to the trailer position. During the loading process the system height is constantly monitored and corrected to the changing trailer's height. An optional 3D systems offers the possibility of checking the inside of the trailer for any obstacles: something as small as a coffee cup can be detected during the procedure.
