SITA's Drop&Fly gains ground in South Korea

Tech Talk
Incheon International airport has deployed SITA’s award-winning self-service bag drop technology at its new Terminal 2.

The installation at Incheon International is partially in preparation for the 100m passengers who are projected to pass through the airport by 2030. Drop&Fly simplifies the bag drop process, cutting time for passengers whilst improving their experience. This technology also makes more efficient use of terminal capacity and ensures more accurate baggage handling.

Incheon International airport (which has been named the World’s Best Airport for 12 consecutive years by the Airport Council International) has had SITA's Drop&Fly facility in operation in Terminal 1 since 2016. Today there are 48 units available to passengers, with another 30 more on the way.

Sang-il Kim, Executive Director of Smart Airport Group at Incheon International, said: “We want to give our passengers a fantastic experience when they travel through our airport and that means using the very best technology. Deploying SITA Drop&Fly is part of our extensive modernisation programme that will help ensure Incheon International remains on top of the list of the world’s best airports.”
