The deal is just one element in a four-year terminal renovation and expansion project at the airport, and will see the airport authority deploy AirIT's EASE advanced platform for passenger processing for all air carriers during the transitory period. It is envisioned that the shared use technology will provide the airport's facilities with the requisite degree of flexibility during the modernisation project.
According to the AirIT, its shared use passenger processing infrastructure is capable of delivering the best overall value for futureproofing GSP's airline and passenger processing needs.
EASE employs desktop virtualisation technology to securely deliver the native system functionality and does not involve any of the costly airline application development and certification requirements associated with the traditional common-use application platforms.
AirIT has already deployed its EASE platform across some two dozen US airports, in order to address a variety of business needs by providing a shared infrastructure platform. Greenville-Spartanburg airport is actually the second-busiest airport in South Carolina and handled approximately 1.82m passengers in 2013.
