SATS launches new mobile travel app

SATS has today (August 11) announced the launch of its new mobile travel app, Ready To Travel, at the NATAS Fair.

The airport services and inflight catering company is calling the app a “predictive mobile travel concierge” which will provide travellers with assistance for stress-free travel, from real-time navigation around the airport to in-app purchases of Wi-Fi, travel insurance and over 10,000 other attractions across 90 countries. Access to SATS Premier Lounges can also be purchased via the app.

Users of the app will receive notifications on-the-go, such as time to the airport, check-in time, boarding gate time, passport renewal, and visa applications, as well as travel notices and advisories. Singaporeans can also eRegister with the Republic’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs using the app. In additional to receiving essential travel information for themselves, users can create a travel itinerary to share it with friends.

Real-time, point-to-point guidance through the airport will be able to users in four airports upon launch: Singapore Changi airport, Bangkok Suvarnabhumi, Tokyo Narita and Hong Kong Chek Lap Kok airport. SATS intends to add further airports to the list in the coming months.

SATS has said that the app is an important step towards a digital future, in line with the company’s vision to provide a seamless travel experience, and is “targeted at the fast-growing millennial traveller segment in Asia.”

Ready To Travel is already available for download on Android or iOS devices users in Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Australia, the Philippines and Hong Kong, with more countries to come online in due course.

The app is said to be the first of its kind launched by a ground handler. “With Ready To Travel, SATS becomes the first ground handler to offer a seamless service that integrates the physical and digital aspects of the customer experience,” said Alex Hungate, SATS President and Chief Executive Officer.

Dr Trust Lin, Director of Taiwan Tourism Bureau, called the app a “one stop travel advisory” put together by travellers for travellers.
