SAHCOL appoints new CEO and executive directors

The Skyway Aviation Handling Company Limited (SAHCOL) has appointed Basil Agboarumi as the company’s new Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer.

Agboarumi receives the official promotion having already served in the role in an acting capacity for the past six months.

Agboarumi joined SAHCOL, then a subsidiary of the Nigeria Airways Limited, as Head of the Public Affairs unit. After the takeover of Skypower Aviation Handling Company Limited by the SIFAX Group in 2009, he was appointed Head of Corporate Communications, leading the re-branding of the new Skyway Aviation Handling Company Limited.

He was promoted to General Manager of SAHCOL in 2013 in charge of the Corporate Communications & Information Technology until his recent appointment to MD and CEO.

Agboarumi is a member of the Institute of Directors Nigeria, a Fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations, an Associate Member of the Advertising Practitioners Council of Nigeria, and an Aluminous of the Pan-Atlantic University.

SAHCOL also newly appointed three executive directors: Boma Ukwunna, in charge of Cargo Services & Operations; Olaniyi Adigun, Sales & Marketing; and Babatunde Afolabi, in charge of Information Technology & Business Development.

Ukwunna has over 18 years’ combined cognate experience in the maritime industry, all of which has been within the Sifax Group. Prior to her move to SAHCOL, she was the General Manager Sifax Bonded Terminal 'B' from 2013 to 2014.

Adigun’s career began in 1993 with Nigeria Airways as Cabin Executive, later becoming a Marketing Officer. He joined Skypower in 2001, before the takeover by SAHCOL. His most recent position was that of Executive Director, Sales & Marketing at SAHCOL.

Afolabi graduated from the University of Ottawa in 2015 in Computer Engineering. He has extensive technical IT skills, spanning programming languages, database, scripts, web designing, design tools and operating systems.
