SAHCO ready for vaccine movement

SAHCO, which is certified with IATA's RA3, is positioned to handle the COVID-19 vaccine, which is expected to be made available to the public in the very near future.

Its Lagos facility has freezers and cold rooms which can be used as a hub for cargo and which can accommodate 12 to 15 pallets; each is equipped with temperature and data loggers, making it easy for specified logging of the correct temperature. These data loggers are closely monitored by trained staff so as to prevent any anomalies in the temperature readings.

SAHCO’s largest cold room totals 118.9 square metres, and has a volume of 630.17 cubic metres, while its smallest cold room's volume is 310.05 cubic metres. This makes SAHCO the only ground handler capable of handling temperature sensitive cargo of this capacity in the area.

Recently, SAHCO ordered cool dollies from Bombelli, in Italy, to help with the transportation of perishables at a constant temperature from the aircraft into the warehouse; the same temperature can be maintained while the cargo is being transferred into another aircraft, if required. These cool dollies are also self-powered which ensures that there will be no drop in temperature during the handling of any temperature sensitive cargo, especially in the case of pharmaceuticals.
