With the agreement, SAHCO is to provide passenger, ramp and cargo handling services, as well as warehousing and other ground handling activities at the new airport.
Costing N60bn to develop, the new airport in Amassoma, Nigeria, was built to improve the economy of the state and will soon be fully operational for both local and international flights. Manager, Corporate Communications, SAHCO, Vanessa Uansohia, has said that SAHCO will offer services to both international and domestic airline operators.
The airport was opened last week by the Bayelsa State, with an inaugural flight by the Governor, Seriake Dickson, from Abuja, and an Air Peace flight from Lagos.
