Ras Al Khaimah airport is in expansion mode

Cargo Matters
The UAE's Ras Al Khaimah International airport has said that it has plans to build a new cargo facility and expand its arrivals terminal.

This should occur during the first half of 2016. According to the airport authorities, a 26% year on year rise in scheduled flights during 2015 has prompted the expansion decision. More specifically, the addition of new charter flights from Poland, Germany, Russia and Latvia, which were launched in 2015, has made the growth desirable. Moreover, Air Arabia has increased the frequency of flights operating from Ras Al Khaimah airport to a total of ten destinations. If all goes according to plan, the project ought to be completed by this coming May.

In terms of data, the airport witnessed a 17% growth in passenger numbers in 2015, compared to the year prior. Ras Al Khaimah International's cargo section also grew by 51%, compared with the previous year.
