Proterra buses for Charlotte Douglas

Proterra has announced that Charlotte Douglas International Airport has agreed to purchase five 35 foot Proterra Catalyst E2 electric buses and five 125 kW Proterra plug-in charging systems.

As one of the busiest airports in the nation, Charlotte Douglas serves approximately 46m passengers each year. With this purchase, the station becomes the ninth airport to purchase Proterra's electric buses.

“At CLT, we are dedicated to implementing sustainable practices that are cost effective and that create a better experience for our employees and visitors,” commented the airport's COO, Jack Christine. “CLT has the goal of fully transitioning its fleet to zero-emission vehicles, which brings both economic and environmental benefits to the airport and Charlotte community.”

In line with growing environmental awareness around the US, Charlotte Douglas' acquisition will help it towards reducing its carbon footprint. It has been calculated that emissions are reduced by up to 230,000 pounds of carbon dioxide annually each time a diesel vehicle is replaced by an electric bus.
