The take-over followed a Memorandum of Understanding recently signed with the Shoreline Group for the company to provide ground handling services at the airport. The contract is set to run for three years.
The agreement gives nahco aviance the exclusive right for ground handling services at the airport including ramp and cargo operations. Carriers operating at the Osubi airport include Aero, Arik and Escravos, this latter being operated by Aero. There are typically four scheduled flights per day, comprising Dash-8 aircraft.
According to a statement by Nahco's General Manager, Corporate Communications, Tayo Ajakaye, the MoU provides for Nahco Aviance to negotiate separate agreements with the other operators using the airport.
The company's Chief Commercial Officer, Seyi Adewale, added that there had been relatively encouraging successes arising from public-private partnership initiatives taken in the past.
