Muscat to become international cargo hub

Cargo Matters
A joint venture agreement between Cargolux Airlines and Oman Air has been signed to develop Muscat International airport as an air cargo hub between India, China, Africa, Europe and the US.

On April 16 a ceremony was held to celebrate the first Cargolux flight under the new agreement, on board the B747 freighter, which included Oman Air Chief Executive, Paul Gregorowitsch, and his Cargolux counterpart, Dirk Reich.

Both carriers have sung the praises of the arrangement, saying it would not only allow Oman Air to expand its cargo operation but also provide Cargolux with access to Oman Air's belly capacity, adding new possibilities for freight transport from Oman's port facilities.
