Following its ongoing work in the greening of its operation, Lufthansa has now received the globally-acknowledged ISO14001 certification.
Certification actually began in 2008 in Frankfurt and was thereafter gradually rolled out elsewhere. Lufthansa Cargo has been ISO certified at all German stations since 2010, and has now achieved worldwide certification.
“As an airline, we have a special responsibility to our environment. We live up to this responsibility through our ambitious environmental targets. For example, we want to reduce our specific carbon dioxide emissions by 25% by 2020. Global certification of our environmental management system is another milestone in this. We are on the right track and won’t let up in our efforts”, commented Dr Karl-Rudolf Rupprecht, Board Member Operations.
